Online Libraries
Before computers and networks, people needed to walk, bike, drive or take the bus to the library to see if they had certain books available. Now you can find out what resources can be found at each library, including Camosun’s, by going online. Just about every community, region, and college have their own library you can access online. Not only can you find out if a book is available, you can also reserve it online and go pick it up later. E-books(electronic books)are even better as you can borrow them instantaneously and start reading without stepping out of your house. Some other fabulous e-options include audiobooks, music, movies etc. Many libraries let you can even chat with a librarian or another library support staff by taking advantage of ‘Ask Now’ option. To practice searching for books online, choose one of the online libraries mentioned below. Take the time to explore the site and see all the resources that are available, including digital resources. Search through their online catalogue for a book, journal or other resource. You can even choose any other library if you like.
Accessing Camosun College’s Library
The Camosun College library is also an excellent collection of books, magazines, journals and other media. Now that you are a student at Camosun College you can access the library at the campus closest to you. You student card is a multi-purpose card; it’s your bus pass and library card too. So be sure to keep it safe! The library hours tend to change during different terms so check the college website to find out the hours of operation.
